Garden of Gethsemane - Davao City.

We had the weekend in my cousin’s country house in Datu Salumay, the place is really a refreshing respite away from metropolitan Davao.  Datu Salumay is located 2 hours drive from the city along the BU-DA highway (Bukidnon-Davao Highway).  The weather is cold and some fogs in the early morning.

Not far from my cousin’s house, we drove for about 15 minutes inside the mountainous district of Marilog, it’s out of the beaten tourist path, so if you plan on heading there, you’d better have a local direct you to the place.  There are houses here and there, cemented road for most part, but it gets bumpy, gravels and rocks at some points, once you’re near the destination.  From the main highway, it may take less than an hour to get to the place.

We arrived at the Garden of Gethsemane, no one’s there except for the caretakers, but since my cousin knows the owner, we were allowed to enter and wander around the gardens.  The place is a beautiful weekender’s retreat.  The main entrance leads you to a winding stairs going down to well-sculpted gardens, orchards of fruit-bearing trees, flowering bushes, pine trees, wooden houses, huts, swimming pool, tables and benches, lagoons, all against a stunning mountain backdrop.

 

The place is truly beautiful.  It’s a sanctuary, great for family and friends looking for a hideaway, spend quality time, commune with nature.

Since the Garden is not far from the Seagull Mountain Resort, you may as well take a side trip to here while you're staying at Seagull or the other way around, whichever you prefer.

You might as well make a call before heading to there.
