The Mansion is
a quick peep stopover. It’s merely a couple of minutes taking pictures right
beyond the tall steel gate. You won’t be
allowed to get past the big lawn and get near the mansion itself, there are
military personnel guarding the place and it’s strictly prohibited to wander
around near the mansion. After all, it’s
the Philippines president’s official summer residence.
The Mansion was
built in 1908 as the official summer residence of U.S. Governor-Generals, was
rebuilt in 1947 after the WW2 devastation and also served as venue for several
local and international political and economic events.
For tourists
in-a-haste, The Mansion is an easy miss, nothing much to see, but the Wright
Park in front of it may be the reason to pass by the place.
TIPS:
You can
combine a visit to Botanical Garden, The Mansion, Wright Park and Mines View Park, in one day full DIY tour by public
transport (jeepney) + walk. All of these sights are along the same route.
Entry is free.
